After bid getting a blank page!

After bid on a product, i get a blank page. I add the codes above to index.php for the errors;

I have cleared off the "Notice: Only variables should be assigned by reference in ... on line 100" errors with this method;

at 100. line;

$x =& $y;

replaced with;

$yy =& $y;
$x = $yy;

is this right??

And the other problem is going on. When i try to bid on a product, getting blank page.
The address bar is "http://www.mysite.com/index.php" and the blank page's html codes are for IE;

doctype html head an body tags.

but for Firefox; there is no code.

??!!

Hi,

I'm not sure exactly where you were making these fixes. In general the approach you used is not recommended as it will result in variables being copied by value - which is not what we often want.

In fact I wouldn't worry about these errors. Certain versions of PHP complained about passing function results by reference, but didn't give an alternative to achieve the same results. These are only notices (not errors) so it should be fine... and they are not the cause of the blank white screen.

The best strategy, is to set the error reporting back to E_ALL^E_NOTICE (so that it doesn't show notices), then check the error log when you get a blank white screen. The most likely problem is some whitespace at the end of some file that is preventing headers from being sent.

That is very strange if there is no error logged for the blank page. No error generally means no error - but there must be an error because the page is not coming out as it should. It is possible that an error is ocurring and being suppressed. Can you give me the link to the site so I can play with it a bit?

I responded to your email finally.

To future users following this post, the problem was simply that the header(...) command in the actions/bid.php file had been commented out by someone...

When do you get this error message? One note is that Dataface is not an application so much as it is a library. You don't actually point your web browser to dataface, other than just to the dataface_info.php file to confirm that it has been installed.
